#SM4NP Social Media Snapshot

Social Media for Nonprofits held their seventh conference this year in Austin, Texas last week. After the great response we received to our #AtTheBridge social media snapshot, we decided to listen in on the #SM4NP hashtag during the event on August 13th. The speakers at #SM4NP included Brooke McMillan from the Livestrong Foundation, Julie Niehoff from Constant Contact, Jan Gunter from the Ronald McDonald House and many more.

For #SM4NP, not only did we listen in on the hashtag, but we also took a look at which speakers were mentioned the most on Twitter during the one day conference.

Top mentioned usernames during #SM4NP

As you can see from this cloud of handles, the speaker that was mentioned the most during the event was @JulieNiehoff. During the day her name was mentioned 97 times! @JoeyMcGirr was the second most mentioned speaker with 88 mentions, followed by @JanGunter with 70 mentions. Also in the top 10 most mentioned usernames were the companies @Livestrong, @RMHCAustin and @Razoo with 31, 29 and 19 mentions respectively. All three of those brands had speakers representing their companies at #SM4NP and the crowd was actively tweeting the examples of their social media work.

Since this event was all about social media, I was curious what networking channels were the mentioned the most. You can see that Twitter was the most popular with 106 mentions, followed by Facebook with 54 mentions, email trailed in the third place with 41 mentions and Pinterest wasn’t mentioned all day long.
