Salesforce Foundation, Dreamforce 2013 and NPO Engagement Party!

We are coming up to an exciting time and I’m not talking about end of year fundraising, I’m talking about Dreamforce 2013! Taking place in San Francisco from Monday, November 18 through Thursday, November 21, this conference is not one to be missed if you use Salesforce. Speakers this year include the President of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer; COO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg and CEO of Salesforce.com, Marc Benioff.

Speaking of Marc Benioff, when he started Salesforce.com in 1999, he knew that he wanted to incorporate philanthropy into his business. In 2000 he launched the Salesforce Foundation and created the 1/1/1 model. This simple 1/1/1 vision is as follows: donate 1% of salesforce.com equity, 1% of his employees’ time, and 1% of his product to improving communities around the world. The Salesforce.com Foundation is based on a simple idea: Leverage salesforce.com’s people, technology and resources to build collective knowledge and enable action to improve communities throughout the world.

During Dreamforce, the Salesforce Foundation has their own conference with tracks dedicated to nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions as well as their own exhibition hall with businesses to help your org expand and grow. For all of the tracks specific to your nonprofit, log in to the Power of Us Hub where you can find more information about the Foundation portion of Dreamforce. Not familiar with the Power of Us Hub? Here’s more information on the Hub and reasons why you should log in now (just use your Salesforce account information).

This year The Connected Cause is sponsoring the NPO Engagement Party, and judging by the photos from last year, this will be one fun party! The #npoengagement party is hosted by our partners at Idealist Consulting and includes a cupcake bar, DJ, open bar, great company and a photo booth – complete with props! All nonprofit organizations are welcome, however we recommend you RSVP as wristbands are required!

You’ll be sure to find members of TheConnectedCause.com at the NPO Engagement party, but be sure to check back to find out where else The Connected Cause members will be during Dreamforce 2013.

What other Salesforce Foundation specific events and sessions are you looking forward to attending at Dreamforce 2013? We want to be sure we don’t miss out on anything, so let us know where to go in the comments below!

I’m looking forward to the Irvine Foundation’s session “Grantmaking Transformed: How to Achieve Greater Impact”…and of course the cupcake bar and photo booth at our NPO Engagement Party.

Hard to believe Salesforce.com started in 1999. And now entire business models are built around working with them. Amazing. I’ll be a Dreamforce, so if you are going, please let me know so we can connect!

  4. I’m excited to hear what Sebastian Majewski from the Gates Foundation has to say about how they’ve been able to use social for their organization.

There are so many great sessions specifically for nonprofits that it is hard to pick the best ones!
