NGO Connect Feature: Personal Attention

NGO Connect Feature: Personal Attention

Saleforce’s NGO Connect (formerly named roundCause) is the cornerstone in Salesforce’s comprehensive CRM offering – Salesforce1 for Nonprofits. NGO Connect has leapfrogged both the Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP) and traditional fundraising applications to become the long-awaited “next generation” solution that eliminates data silos, provides the much-desired “360-degree view” of constituents, and drives increased engagement and fundraising.

Part of the reason to go to the Salesforce platform is to give your organization greater capability to communicate with your constituents according to their preferences. NGO Connect is ready to manage the complexities that sometimes come with paying personal attention to your donors’ wishes, with features like:

  • Multiple active addresses. If Contacts on the Account have different addresses from each other or from the Account address, they can be managed separately. NGO Connect can also handle seasonal addresses or other types of alternate mailing addresses.
  • Address processing. NGO Connect can automatically update Contact addresses when the Account address changes.
  • A separate area for customizable addressees and salutations. A default Account Salutation is created when a record is saved. For more options, and to prepare for situational needs, both Account and Contact records can have as many addressees and salutations as are necessary.
  • A section designed for communication preferences and other demographic coding. Preferences are an important part of NGO Connect records that go far beyond tracking communication preferences. Board and committee memberships, educational history, interests and ratings are all examples of the types of demo- graphic information that can be tracked in Preferences. Plus, since NGO Connect is very customizable, each customer can create their own Preferences as well.

Each of these features is available for households as well as individuals, which means you can be very specific about how you want to code and address your donors.

If your current system doesn’t offer this flexibility, start thinking about how your business processes could be improved to take advantage, and how you might want to differentiate what will be tracked on the Account (Household) level versus what is important to track for each Contact.
