Luminate CRM Available in the Salesforce Appexchange

With all the discussion around Salesforce1 recently, some may have missed Blackbaud’s announcement that Luminate CRM is now available in the Salesforce1 Appexchange, allowing organizations that are already utilizing or considering the Force.com platform to take advantage of it’s tools and features.

“Companies are looking to transform the way they connect with customers, partners and employees to thrive in today’s connected world,” said Ron Huddleston, senior vice president of ISV and channel at salesforce.com, in a statement. “By leveraging the power of the Salesforce1 Platform, Blackbaud provides customers with the proven social, mobile and connected cloud technologies to accelerate business success.”

Built on the Salesforce Platform, Luminate CRM was designed as a core donor database and fundraising system to address common frustrations faced by nonprofits and provide unified reports, record management, and powerful constituent analytics.  It was originally a product of Convio and grew out of the Common Ground offering.  As nonprofit increased their adoption of the original Common Ground product, it became clear that there were two distinct types of nonprofit buyers – those for whom a solid integration with Convio’s Online Marketing Suite (now Luminate Online) was a necessity and those for whom it was not a priority.  This resulted in Convio “forking the code” and developing two separate products – Luminate CRM, which integrates with Luminate Online, and Common Ground.   Soon after Blackbaud’s acquisition in 2012 the company signaled the end of support for Common Ground but has since extended its original deadline.  This week’s announcements are the first broad public indicators of their plans for Luminate CRM moving forward.
