#DF13 Social Snapshot Report

Last week was a blast following along with the #DF13 hashtag. On Monday we compared what services people were using to share their images via Twitter (the results may surprise you), on Tuesday Marc Benioff was incredible quotable throughout his keynote presentation, Wednesday brought us Sheryl Sandberg who told us to stop calling little girls bossy and Thursday was all about the hackathon and the million dollar prize.

That was just the information we’ve already told you about! Now for the information on Dreamforce as a whole. We’ve mentioned that there were 135,000 attendees to Dreamforce 2013, but did you know there were only 90,000 in 2012 and 67,000 in 2011? With that data in hand, we decided we also wanted to compare how many tweets there were year to year and see if they grew as much as attendance did.

In 2011 there were 67,774 tweets the month surrounding the late August conference. That is barely equal to one tweet per person! The following year there were 125,652 tweets in September for #DF12 which was 30,000 more than attendees. This November we say 151,555 tweets from #df13 attendees, which is also about 30,000 more than there were people who attended. Honestly, I would have thought there would have been more tweets for such a big event, so color me surprised.

    This year was my first Dreamforce, I can’t believe there were over 40,000 more people this year than last year. I’l be curious to see how many attend next year!
